Scott,
Thanks for joining in :) Glad to have others on the journey with us. It's cool to realize that so many of us have been walking the same path.

Texas Flood is pretty sweet too :)

Wow guys! This is what it is all about. I have sent the link to many people with a note. "If you have been wondering about my journey listen to this." This captures the real essence of people in "The Way". Excellent podcast. Ok, all that's out of the way now getting the the good stuff...

SRV - Mary had a little lamb was one of the first SRV songs I had the privilege to listen to. So it has it's place at the top, but... I will have to go with the other Scott (which happens to be from Texas also!) on this one "Life by the Drop" is over the top. Phenomenal song. Plus the other Scott's from Austin so he's got the inside connection! So I cast my vote for “Life by the Drop”.

P.S.too I hear Stevie still hangs around there some times just to give a few lessons ;) Keep it weird brother!

Thanks Steve & Raborn

Ian,
You said:
we invent tools such as evangelism to try and reconnect with the general population … and it just doesn’t work.

Well said. It seems like our actions become very programmed as we are assimilated into the institutional church. I think that some of the reason for this is that so much of the institution has been program based. For instance, instead of natural, organic discipleship we have discipleship classes. Instead of allowing our witness to flow out of a genuine, heart-felt relationship with our unbelieving friends, we instead attend an evangelism conference where we can learn the latest methods of evangelism. I appreciate the intentions of those creating and involved in these kinds of ventures(I have been there and done that), but I believe that our unconditional love and relationships with others are our greatest opportunities for sharing Christ; that is not just sharing facts about Christ, but rather sharing Christ Himself! Thanks for your comment Ian :)

Steve & Raborn,

What you discussed about basing relationships with the people who you share life with, regardless or religious conviction, is something that I have been reflecting upon lately, however it is not something that is common.

So much of what I have taught has been to surround myself with like minded believers and that this is normative behaviour. But it just doesn't ring true in a functional sense. We get saved, we quickly get assimilated into an entirely different social environment, we become aliens to our family and friends, we invent tools such as evangelism to try and reconnect with the general population ... and it just doesn't work. It just seems like it has been inverted.

Surely, we come into progressively experiencing new life and identity through God's action in our lives, which should then free us up to actively engage with those around us. What would happen if we remained in situ so that those around us can see, feel and experience, through observation, our new life and transformation?
